A real Scalus client

The crew builds the gardens. Idah runs the office.

Idah looks after admin and operations at Eden Building & Landscaping, one coordinated team doing design, outdoor building, landscaping and maintenance across Melbourne's north east. A website is not a marketing toy to her. It is the thing that either fills her day with chasing, or does the chasing for her. So that is what I built it to do.

In her words

What Idah actually said

Not a written review someone typed for her. This is straight off the video above.

"From an operations perspective, from an admin front, it's been great working with Tim."

Idah · Administrator, Eden Building & Landscaping

"I feel like we speak the same language. We're not having to translate between tech and admin."

Idah · Administrator, Eden Building & Landscaping

"Very easy to share information."

Idah · Administrator, Eden Building & Landscaping

"That seamless process has been great."

Idah · Administrator, Eden Building & Landscaping

"Very knowledgeable, very helpful. Always listening to our ideas and feedback."

Idah · Administrator, Eden Building & Landscaping

"Working with Tim on our website has been great."

Most websites get judged on how they look to a customer. Idah judges this one on what it does to her inbox. Here is what it actually is.

Eden Building & Landscaping

Landscaping & outdoor building · Melbourne north east · edenbl.com.au

A website that looks like the work they do

Eden call it The Art of Outdoor Living, and the site had to earn that. Their own palette, their own logo, their own photos, with a proper page for every part of the business: design and planning, outdoor building, landscaping, garden maintenance, tree lopping and their around the clock emergency response.

  • A page for every service and every area they cover
  • Built to be found when a local searches for their trade
  • Backed by 2,500 jobs, 10 years and 4.8 stars across 59 Google reviews

The enquiry arrives already filled in

This is the part that changes an admin day. Eden serve two completely different buyers, so instead of one form that says "message us", the site splits into a domestic path and a commercial path and asks each of them the right questions.

The address is typed against real addresses rather than guessed, so the suburb and postcode are right the first time. The project gets described by the person who wants it done. By the time it reaches the office, Idah is not sending an email to find out what the job is and where it is. It is already there.

  • Domestic and commercial ask different questions
  • Real verified addresses, so nothing needs correcting later
  • No round of back and forth before anyone can quote
The six service pages on the Eden Building and Landscaping website

The site answers the questions before the phone does

Six services, and every one of them has its own page: what is included, how the process runs, what a job like that involves, and the questions people always ask. Domestic and commercial each get their own route through it.

That is a quiet win for the office. The calls that used to be "what do you actually do" and "do you cover my area" get answered by the site, so the ones that reach the desk are people who already know and want a price.

  • A page per service, with the FAQs sitting on it
  • Separate domestic and commercial paths through the site
  • Fewer repeat questions arriving at the desk

Every enquiry lands in one place

Before this, enquiries were scattered across phone, email and word of mouth with nothing tying them together. Now every one of them goes to the same system, and the team has a dashboard skinned to Eden's own look that shows the live feed of who came in and what they asked for.

Chat noise, voice notes and test entries are filtered out of it, so what Idah is looking at is real enquiries and the notes attached to them. Nothing to export, nothing to reconcile, nothing sitting in one person's inbox where nobody else can see it.

  • One live feed of every enquiry, in Eden's own branding
  • The contact notes sit with the lead, so anyone can pick it up
  • An emergency line that answers around the clock, so no call goes unanswered

The Eden Building and Landscaping website on a phone

Almost every enquiry starts on a phone

So the phone version is the one I design first, not the one I shrink down afterwards. The quote flow is built for thumbs, the phone number is a tap away from anywhere on the site, and nothing slides sideways or needs pinching to read.

Which matters for the office too. A quote request typed properly on a phone in someone's back garden is a quote request Idah does not have to decipher.

The reputation and accreditation section of the Eden Building and Landscaping website

Ten years of reputation, actually shown

Eden have 2,500 jobs behind them, ten years in business, 4.8 stars across 59 Google reviews and 98% client satisfaction. Registered, insured, Master Builders and Landscaping Victoria, CFA and SES partners.

All of that existed before the website. It just was not anywhere a stranger could see it. Now it sits on the page, with the real Google reviews pulled in underneath, so the site does the vouching instead of the office having to.

  • Real numbers and real reviews, on the page
  • Accreditations and memberships where people look for them
  • A review system that keeps the ratings climbing on their own

The bit that is hard to put on a website

You get me, not a ticket number

The line Idah used is the one I care most about: we are not having to translate between tech and admin. That only happens because there is one person on the other end who knows the business, picks up, and can just do the thing.

I am in Melbourne, I go out and see the teams I work with, and when something needs changing you tell me and it gets changed. No account manager, no portal, no queue.

Questions, answered

Is it really $225 a month?
Yes. $225/month, month to month. No build fee, no setup cost, and you can cancel any time.
Will this actually save my office time?
That is the whole point of how I build the front of a site. A form that says "message us" hands your admin a job. A quote flow that asks the right questions hands your admin a job that is ready to price. Eden's splits domestic and commercial and verifies the address, so nothing has to be chased before someone can quote it.
Can my team see the enquiries, or just one person?
Your team. Everything lands in one place with the notes attached, and Eden have a dashboard in their own branding showing the live feed. Nothing gets stuck in one inbox.
Who actually looks after my site?
Tim, based right here in Melbourne. I handle the builds and look after your site directly. When Eden want something changed they tell me and I change it. You get the same.
What if I already have a website?
Most of my clients did. If yours is not bringing you work, or it is making more admin than it saves, that is the thing worth fixing. Leave your details and I will have a proper look at what you have got and tell you straight what is wrong with it.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Everything is month to month. Stay as long as it is working for you, leave whenever you like.
Do I own the website?
Your domain, your content, your photos, your accounts and the design of your site are yours, and they leave with you along with a full export of your enquiries and data. The code base itself stays with Scalus while you are on the monthly plan, because there is no build fee and nothing to pay up front, so the build is carried by me and paid off over the months you stay.
What happens if I stop paying?
Everything is month to month, so you give one month's notice and everything of yours comes with you. What stops is the part I run for you: hosting, support, maintenance, security, the chat bot and the other integrations. No lock in and no exit fee.
What if I am not satisfied?
I will do everything I can to make it right. If I still cannot, I will cancel your subscription straight away, and your site stays live for another 14 days so nothing drops off overnight.
