Feature · The Scalus app
Choose how you hear from me
When I reply to a client in the Scalus app, they need to know about it. Until now, though, they had very little say in how. So I built one place where every client chooses how they hear from me.
The problem
There was one switch, for emails, and that was it. Nobody could turn the texts off, or the notifications the app sends to their phone or computer, without asking me. And it wasn't clear that a text or an email from the app was there to remind you to open it.
The result
Tap the bell at the top of the app, or Notifications in the menu, and one Notifications sheet opens with three switches.
- In app notifications. At the top. Turn it off and no notifications go to any of your devices. Turn it back on whenever you like, with no new permission to give.
- SMS reminders. Turn it off and the texts asking you to check your messages from me stop.
- Email reminders. Turn it off and the emails about unread messages stop.
- Yours alone. Each switch is just for you, and it covers every business you're on in the app. Anyone else on your account makes their own choice.
The two reminder switches sit under a small divider titled Reminders to check the app, with a note that says what they're for:
Texts and emails remind you to open the app when a message from Tim is waiting unread.
The sheet has a frosted glass look with switches in the iOS 27 style, in light and dark. It's live now in the Scalus app at my.scalus.app. The screens above are the real app, shown with a made up business.
Want a website and the app behind it?
Clients already have this in their app today. Not a client yet? The website, the app and the systems behind them are one plan, month to month.
