Why Melbourne web design costs what it costs

The standard Melbourne quote runs between $3,000 and $10,000 to build, then a monthly fee for hosting, then an hourly rate every time you want a phone number changed. The agency makes its money on the build and has no reason to care what happens afterwards.

I do the opposite. There is no build fee, so the only way this works for me is if the site keeps earning you enough that you stay. That puts us on the same side.

Built to be found, not just to look good

A good looking site that nobody finds is an expensive business card. Every site I build ships with the technical SEO and the AI search work already done, so it turns up on Google and gets named when someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation.

Straight answers

How much does web design cost in Melbourne?

Most Melbourne agencies charge between $3,000 and $10,000 to build a business website, plus ongoing hosting and hourly fees for changes. I charge $225 per month with no build fee, which covers the website, the SEO and AI search tools, hosting and support.

Do I own my website?

You own your domain, your content and your images outright, always. The site is built and hosted on my system, which is what keeps it at this price. If you leave, I hand over your content and help you move.

How many pages do I get?

Thirty. That is enough for every service you offer and every suburb you cover, which is what actually drives local rankings. Most cheap website plans cap you at five pages and that is the reason they never rank.

Is there a lock in contract?

No. Month to month. If it stops being worth it you give notice and leave.

Who actually builds it?

I do. You deal with one person, based in Melbourne, who knows your business. There is no account manager layer and nothing is sent offshore.
