The standard Melbourne quote runs between $3,000 and $10,000 to build, then a monthly fee for hosting, then an hourly rate every time you want a phone number changed. The agency makes its money on the build and has no reason to care what happens afterwards.

How much does web design cost in Melbourne?

Most Melbourne agencies charge between $3,000 and $10,000 to build a business website, plus ongoing hosting and hourly fees for changes. I charge $225 per month with no setup fee, which covers the website, the SEO and AI Search tools, hosting and support.

Do I own my website?

You own your content, your photos, and all of your contacts and data, and if you cancel they leave with you on 30 days notice. If you want to keep your website's design and code, it is a one off $850. What does not come with the design and code is the SEO and AI Search work, the hosting, updates, support and the connected systems, like the enquiry forms, live chat, missed call text back, review system and lead notifications, which run on Scalus hosting and would need replacing elsewhere. It is an ongoing service rather than a one off build that dates in a year or two, so while you are with me you get one to one support and your site keeps being updated, which you can follow at scalus.app/updates/.

How many pages do I get?

Up to thirty. That is enough for every service you offer and every suburb you cover, which is a big part of what drives local rankings. Most cheap website plans cap you at five pages, which is often why they struggle to rank.

Is there a lock in contract?

No. Month to month. If it stops being worth it you give notice and leave.

Who actually builds it?

I do. You deal with one person, based in Melbourne, who knows your business. There is no account manager layer. A small team of contractors helps me behind the scenes.
