Feature · Google reviews
A bad day never becomes a bad review
An electrician told me this week he wanted more Google reviews but was nervous about asking. "Sometimes you can tell they might not be the right person to ask." Fair enough. One rough day on one job should not sit on your Google listing for years. So the review texts now ask how it went first.
The problem
The review system texts every customer after a finished job with a link to your Google review page. That works, and most reviews come from the first text. But it treated every customer the same: the delighted one and the one whose switchboard cover got left off. The second one is a phone call, not a public review, and the owner would rather hear it first.
The result
The link in every text now opens a small page, the one in the picture above.
- Five stars and a straight question. Your business name, "Hi Sarah, how did we go?" and five big stars. Under them, a plain link to your Google review page that every customer can use, before they tap anything.
- 4 or 5 stars go to Google. Straight to your review box with the stars already up.
- 1 to 3 stars come to you first. A short form opens: what could we have done better, and a name or number if they want a call back. It lands in your email within seconds, the rest of their review texts stop, and the Google link stays on the page the whole time. Nobody is kept away from Google. They just get the chance to tell you first.
- Two wordings for every text. Each text now has two ready wordings written about your own work, "happy with the electrical work?" for an electrician, "your tattoo" for a studio, shown exactly as a customer reads them with your name and your own website address. Tap the one you like, or write your own. Every text is always one text message.
- Signed by you, if you want. One switch and the texts end with your first name in front of the business name. People reply to a person.
- See what it is before you turn it on. Open Google review system in the app and it shows you what it does, why reviews matter, how it works and what it costs, with a switch for voicemail AI on the number. Nothing starts until you say so, and you can switch it off at any time.
A happy customer is one tap from Google. An unhappy one is one tap from you.
The page in the picture is the real one, shown with a sample name. It is on for every business that runs the review system from today, nothing to set up.
