1. Who we are
Sun Screen is a Mac app made by TMC Media Pty Ltd (ABN 26 660 757 415), trading as Scalus App, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean TMC Media Pty Ltd.
2. The short version
Sun Screen does not collect, store or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it never connects to the internet.
3. What Sun Screen uses on your Mac
- The brightness keys. With your permission in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility (called Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27), Sun Screen receives the brightness and media key presses so it can respond to Brightness Up and Brightness Down. It does not receive what you type, and it never sends key presses anywhere.
- Your display. Sun Screen reads how much extra brightness your display offers and adjusts the screen's output to use it. This all happens on your Mac.
- Battery status. Sun Screen checks whether your Mac is on battery, its charge level and Low Power Mode, so it can follow the battery setting you choose.
- Your settings. Your choices, such as the battery setting and whether to open at login, are saved on your Mac in Sun Screen's own storage.
- An activity log. Sun Screen keeps a small log of its own actions, such as the brightness keys it acted on and the boost level changing, in its own storage on your Mac to help with troubleshooting. It is never sent anywhere and is kept small. It stays in Sun Screen's folder (Library, Containers) until you delete it.
4. Purchases
Sun Screen is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the purchase and we never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to your App Store account.
5. Children
Sun Screen collects no information from anyone, including children.
6. This website
This page is part of scalus.app, which uses its own first party analytics. How the website handles information is covered by the Scalus Privacy Policy.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
